SJSU Votes! Registers Spartans to Vote!

SJSU Votes! is registering and mobilizing San Jose State students for the 2018 November Midterm election. After beginning our project we learned that SJSU Associated Students entered SJSU in the California University Ballot Bowl, a competition created by the California Secretary of State to increase registration and voter turnout among California college students. California colleges and universities are competing to see which campus can register the most students to vote! Most of our registration efforts will assist in this effort as well! Use the unique URL, created by the Secretary of State, to register to vote on the Secretary of State website.

SJSU Votes! Presents Voter Information to Campus Village

A team from SJSU Votes! gave a great presentation to Campus Village residents in the resident activity center about the importance of voting in the midterm election in November. They also gave information about how to register to vote. We’re looking forward to going back Campus Village for two tabling events. Some photos from the event are posted below:

Mini Block Party A Big Success!

SJSU Votes! teamed up with Pi Sigma Alpha and the Center for Community Learning and Leadership on October 18th on the 7th St. Plaza to register voters, give out voter information, talk about community engagement, and present opportunities to voice concerns to elected representatives. There was music, games, snacks, pens and pocket Constitutions, and other cool stuff from the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters, and tons of information from SJSU Votes!, the League of Women Voters, and other great sources. Pi Sigma Alpha provided pre-addressed stamped postcards for students to send to elected leaders. The Center for Community Learning and Leadership provided excellent information about community engagement for students. It also provided students with churros if they visited the tables. It was good fun and great civic engagement.
